Silvan Forest Featured in NZ Mountain Biker
We were pretty chuffed to see Silvan Forest featured in the latest issue of NZ Mountain Biker. It’s not often we take a step back to look at how far things have come, so it was cool to see the forest and the people behind it through someone else’s eyes.
The article tells the story of how this place has evolved from a working pine forest to a growing network of native bush, hand-built trails, and good people who care about both. It highlights the efforts of everyone who’s been part of it over the years, from the Griffin family’s early vision to the Richmond Hills Trail Carvers crew and all the diggers, riders, and locals who have pitched in to make it what it is.
There’s a great write-up about the De La Luna trail, too. It was built by hand with a massive amount of heart and about 1100 hours of hard mahi from the team at Hyperformance Hardware and the wider community. It’s an honest bit of trail building that really captures what Silvan is all about.
We’re still adding new tracks and planning another 30 kilometres over the next few years, keeping things evolving while letting the forest regenerate around them.
“What the Griffin family and the local community have created at Silvan Forest goes well beyond just another mountain bike park. They’ve transformed a working pine forest into something genuinely special.”

Big thanks to everyone who has supported Silvan along the way. It’s a community effort through and through.
